Thoughts

Thoughts posts so far:

Thoughts about thoughts

Thoughts is the most unruly and least orderly of the categories here.

This site’s been active for eight months or so (as of Aug 26, 2026) and there is STILL only one Thoughts post here and I pulled that one together just to say I had one 🙂

But I have 20-odd Thoughts posts on my laptop in various stages of done-ness, awaiting that happy day when they are done enough to upload!

They are hard to finish!

Knocking out a book review has a pretty clear end when the book is done, but my thoughts on say … favorite desserts at the old folks home … , well that could go on forever… 🙂

So in one sense Thoughts posts are never quite done, so at some point I just have to pull the trigger and publish them!

Process Notes

Since I allude to writing these posts on my laptop, this seem like as good a place as any to describe what IS my process! I expect it will change over time, but this is it as of Summer 2026!

I already had the Road Trip blog and the old Health Blog and when I settled into the old folks home, this became part of a project to capture my memories while I could still remember them!

After a few months I decided some were ready for prime time, so I needed a process! 🙂

When a post is deemed “ready”, I add it to an extra category I created called “exportme”. There’s a standard WordPress filter on the Export function to export all posts in a category, so there you go!

After I’ve imported them to the server I remove the exportme category from each post, and I’m in business.

Back on the laptop I remove the exportme category from each also, and while I’m there, set each post to Private so they won’t clutter up my listings, and to remind me that these posts are “dead” over here, the only version that matters is on the server. I really should delete them, but I just can’t make myself do it! 🙂

I do my best not to use them in links until they are on the server, in case WordPress changes the post ID on the server.

As for the nine Categories that’s just a study in feature creep. 🙂
